Why this book and why now?
When I wrote The Chase, I had no plans for a series, but I really liked Seren’s best friend E, who we meet in The Chase. I enjoy reading stand-alone series, and once I decided to write E’s story, too, I made The Chase the first book in the series, and then followed it up with E’s tale, which turned into The Deal.
I had always struggled with the idea of writing a romance novel because it seemed like there is no “real” plot aside from getting the characters together. I worried I wouldn’t be able to reach the word count needed for a novel, if all I got was the love story between two people. The Chase worked out well, and then The Deal became the longest book I’ve ever written at 96k words. Go figure.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
I’d get along with both E and Nicole, though I think I’d enjoy being around E more as she is really calm and easy-going. Nicole can be a bit high strung, and while I think we’d get along as well, she might put me a bit on edge at times.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Historical documentaries, or shows about making moonshine.
Aside from the obvious food and shelter, what 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization?
E would want coffee, sneakers so she could go running, and a way to watch movies, so I’d have to make it futuristic and invent a device that can do that without running out of battery.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Well, since E makes moonshine and loves mint (she’s experimenting with different flavored moonshines in the book), she’d choose her newest mint moonshine.
