Author Rhiannon Grant recommends The Date by TB Markinson

Welcome to Authors Getting Rec’d! Each week, we’ll bring you a new sapphic book recommendation from a favorite sapphic author. Find out what authors are reading and why, plus read about the personal connections between authors and books.

This week, Rhiannon Grant, recommends a new find and explains why The Date is a must read.

Rhiannon decided to read a book by TB Markinson after listening to her on the Lesbians Who Write podcast. She had never read any of TB’s work before.

Let’s hear more from Rhiannon about why The Date is a must read:

This is a funny story about being in a new city – Brit has just moved to London and needs to get to know the place as well as her neighbours – and meeting someone. At first the meeting doesn’t go well, not least because of Brit’s dog, but as Prin and Brit get to know one another better… more things go wrong. Of course, in the end something special begins to develop. I really enjoyed reading this. The relationship is handled skillfully, the repeated setbacks heighten the tension, the writing is funny and easy to read, and the pets are adorable!

Tempted? You can get TB’s book here:

Rhiannon Grant is the author of Between Boat & Shore, which also deals with a character moving to a new place.

Here’s Rhiannon to tell us more:

The Date and Between Boat & Shore both revolve around the experience of someone arriving in a new place, meeting someone new, and needing to adapt to their situation. In The Date, Brit moves from the USA to London and finds herself living next door to a super sexy woman who doesn’t seem to like her or her dog. In Between Boat & Shore, Aleuks lands in a new village in a storm and finds herself stuck there for the winter, learning new social customs and wondering whether falling in love with a women who is a much needed leader will mean an end to her travels. They would both appeal to readers who want to accompany the characters on an adventure in a new place.

Thank you, Rhiannon, for sharing what book is on your nightstand right now and paying it forward by showing some book love to a fellow SapphFic author!
