Why this book and why now?

Lily: I sat down and wrote the first chapter and I handed it to Jacqueline, so she didn’t really have a say in the matter. You can blame me for this one.

Jacqueline: It was a great first chapter and very exciting! I promise it wasn’t the punishment that makes it sound like.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

Lily: I know Eva and I would get along, at least! She’s basically me, so… judge for yourself whether to feel sorry for Jacqueline dating me, knowing that.

Jacqueline: I suppose from that we can all infer that I would get along with Eva! Ava, too, but for entirely different reasons. She’s definitely closer to me as a person. Freja… She’s super cool and chill, so we would get along, but I think I’d just be feeling so uncool next to her the entire time!

What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?

Lily: Aside from a history textbook, Ava’s is probably some gritty crime novel or murder mystery where she can draw inspiration on how to off her twin sister and hide her body. She comes around on her, though.

Jacqueline: Freja would be reading a photography coffee table book, a travel guide on where to get the best pizza, or Dostoyevsky. But she wouldn’t admit to the Dostoyevsky.

One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.

Lily: There’s probably pizza involved. Ava would really try her best, and she’d probably set out romantic candles and put music on, but Freja’s probably too busy thinking of her naked…

Jacqueline: Despite refusing to get into relationships before Ava, Freja’s probably a huge romantic, so I think she’d probably also try to go all out and make it romantic. But, let’s be honest, she thinks their sexy photoshoots count as dates, so she’s probably set up a camera. Candlelit lingerie shoot. That’s Freja’s idea of a great date.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.

Lily: Espresso martini. With extra espresso. And extra martini, too.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Lily: FLETCHER, definitely. Basically anything from her catalog. The glitzy-pop disaster lesbian energy is basically what we styled the book after. Probably girls girls girls, because you know, like… girls.

Jacqueline: Exactly that. Loads of FLETCHER. Also Hozier, for sure. Partly because I’m a huge fan, and partly because the Jackboot Jump video stuck in my head when Lily gave me the first chapter and I was tasked with coming up with the second lead. For the party, I’m going to say either that one or his collab with MEDUZA, Tell It To My Heart. It’s such a tune.
