Why this book and why now?
The fake relationship trope is one of my favourites, but I’d never actually written one. I wanted to put a twist on it, and came up with the idea of a fake mum as well as a fake relationship.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
Andi and I would get on great. We’d sit peacefully together on a deck and drink beer. And I’d totally hit her up to redecorate my house. Sarah and I would have less in common, but she’s such a genuine person (and fun!) that we’d be friends. I’d crash the pizza nights with Sarah, Andi, and their friend Kristin.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
Sarah has a couple of lesbian romances on her nightstand: A Breathless Place by Harper Bliss and Amy’s Rest by S.R. Silcox. I think she’d love the heart-clenching angst in Harper’s book, and be very envious of the renovation happening in S.R.’s. Although with Andi in her life, I’m sure a gorgeous house is in her future.
Aside from the obvious food and shelter, what 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Obviously, Sarah’s daughter Noa would have to come, although I don’t think she’d like being called a thing! Andi would take her toolkit so she could built things to make life more comfortable for them. Sarah would take a couple of comfortable outdoor chairs so she could sit on the beach or the top of a mountain and take in the view.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
We Are Family by Sister Sledge, and Andi, the childfree character who doesn’t want family in her life would sing along the loudest.
