Why this book and why now?
I had committed to writing a trilogy spin-off series and once I commit to something, I have to follow through. Since I am a pantster, the original idea took many twists and turns, especially for books 2 and 3. Love Sins is the final book and although it can be read as a stand alone, it builds on an important event in book 2, Love Hacks. I thought that spacing out each book over the year made the most sense and since Love Hacks came out in June, I thought three months was a good time span for Love Sins to be released.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
There are two main characters, and yes, I would probably get along with both of them. I admire women who are intelligent and driven. Although I tend to be very introverted, I do okay in small groups. Perhaps they would appreciate an author who was interested in what they did for a living, possibly even using one or both as a main character and asking to interview them for that book!
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Jess would probably binge something nerdy like one of the Star Trek shows, maybe Discovery or Voyager because she’s the chief engineer at a solar car company. She would appreciate all the techy stuff in either series. Amanda, as an FBI agent might binge Criminal Minds and probably yell at the television set for all the unrealistic details related for the FBI’s BAU unit. In reality, neither character strikes me as the type to binge anything because both are obsessed with their careers and unraveling mysteries in real life.
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
One of their drones, Tablet, Solar panels. The book is set 20 years in the future, and the drones they developed have enhanced capabilities to fly long-range and view their surroundings. The tablets also have a number of apps that would help keep them entertained as well as possibly serve as a communication device. Solar energy would keep the previous two items powered.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Would definitely be beer. After a successful mission, the team toasted with a pitcher of beer. Many of the characters are younger, and they had a favorite hang-out where they often went for pizza and beer. Since the first time Jess was folded into the group was at a place called Pete’s Pizza, it just makes sense they would toast with beer versus a more pretentious or sophisticated drink like wine or a fancy cocktail.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
We Are Family. It seems to fit because the women in The Organization are like a close-knit family.
