Why did you write Pumpkin Spice & Poltergeist?
We both love spooky season and had always planned to write together. This project was the perfect start for our Stars Hollow meets Halloweentown romance.
Who is your favorite character in the book?
Ali: My favorite is Harlow because I’m also a total golden retriever with ADHD.
K. Elle: I love Jordyn, her black cat energy mirrors my own and I just love her sass.
How did you come up with the title for your book?
K. Elle came up with it while plotting something completely different that didn’t fit the vibe at all! Luckily, Ali loved the title and project ideas.
If you’re planning a sequel, can you share a tiny bit about your plans for it?
A sequel is in the works! We love the enthusiasm that everyone has for Willow & Wyatt, and Iris & Ramona. We aren’t sure which one will come next, but we are so excited to share the next chapter in the Maple Hollow series next fall. And maybe keep an eye out for a special side quest coming this summer.
What is your favorite line from your book?
Ali: “It was like I’d spent my whole life staring at the moon and she’d walked in with all her sunshine.”
K. Elle: “Did you seriously take my favorite shirt to the afterlife?”
How do you celebrate when you finish your book?
With each other!! We hop on a live and celebrate. Sometimes we do parties in our Facebook group!
Is there a particular genre you would love to write but only under a pseudonym?
Erotica! Sapphic to be exact!
What animal or object best represents you as an author or your writing style?
Ali: Golden retriever
K. Elle: Black cat
Have you ever cried when writing an emotional scene?
Ali: I wrote a scene in one of my rom-coms that hit me in the gut. Sometimes I set out to write a lighthearted scene and it ends up being surprisingly emotional. It catches me off guard for sure.
K. Elle: I cried very hard while writing one of the ending scenes in Prince of Lust. When my Reaper takes her last charge, it’s a cancer patient which just hit me hard because my father passed from cancer about ten years ago.
Do you feel bad putting your characters through the wringer?
No! Just kidding! Sometimes we feel bad but ultimately we know they’re going to get their HEA. And there is something satisfying in knowing that we are going to put our readers through it with our characters.
Describe your favorite reading spot.
Ali: On the outdoor couch on my deck where I can watch all the pretty Australian birds flying by. Always snuggled up with my cats, a warm blanket, and a hot drink.
K. Elle: I’m an audiobook girlie. I love listening/reading while I cook, clean, or do self-care.
Do you only read books in one genre or do you genre hop?
Ali: I like to hop between more lighthearted genre’s like rom-coms and fantasy with lots of intense world building. I feel like it’s a good balance.
K. Elle: I really stick with contemporary dark romance. I love a toxic relationship.
