Why this book and why now?
I began it as a script in 2016, then a friend inspired me to change it up and write it as a book. It’s a great escape of a murder mystery, but also touches on many women’s/feminist issues, which are important now more than ever. The plight of violence against women and children is center stage.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
I would get along with my main character quite well, as she’s a sharp woman with a good heart.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
My main character would binge “Criminal Minds” in order to sharpen her skills in criminal profiling.
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
My main character would want a romantic partner, and honestly that would be enough to keep her feeling happy and secure. She really deserves that, I think. Maybe an electric fence to keep out predators, human and otherwise, so she needn’t worry about being “the protector.”
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
My MC would have a bay area draft IPA beer. She’s working class, but appreciates the unique flavors that local breweries have to offer.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
She’d choose Billie Elish’s “Bury a Friend”, because her life is plagued by nightmares about “monsters hiding under the bed”, so to speak.
