As the year comes to a close, we have one burning question for book lovers everywhere: What were your top 5 sapphic reads of 2024?

Luckily our readers like to share! We look forward to passing along these recommendations to you daily into the new year.

It’s not too late to submit your own top reads and get in on the fun. Click here for the form. Our only rules are that authors may not submit their own books and your list needs to be new-to-you books that were read (not necessarily published) in 2024.

Here are Lyn Denison’s top sapphic reads of 2024:

1. The Piano in the Tree by Jo Havens

Bit by bit Jo blends the past into the present and you’re trapped on an emotion-filled rollercoaster towards an end you want and don’t want to reach as you cry, ‘No. Please. Not that.’

2. Tempting Olivia by Clare Ashton

I just loved Olivia. In fact all the characters are great. There are some wonderful nuances, right down to Olivia’s sentient eyebrow.

3. The Nightingale and the Rose by Jolie Dvorak

Oh, so very satisfying in today’s climate. If only…

4. Serpentine Valentine by Giana Darling

Not for everyone but if you’ve ever just yearned to exact revenge you’ll run with this. Our MC skates on thin ice but you can feel satisfied you’d be there to drag her out if the ice breaks. She deserves someone there to put their arms around her…

5. Who’d Have Thought by G. Benson

A re-read. Many times. Plus a listen to narrator Tanya Eby. It’s comforting and comfortable. I love every character in this fake marriage book, apart from Sam’s parents. Little touches squeeze your heart.

More about the books:

Meet Lyn Denison

A reader who became a writer. When I decided to build my first house my father warned me ominously I’d never be able to afford it. I hated the thought of Dad’s I-told-you-so, so I wrote a book as a backup. Lyn the reader became Lyn the writer. (Plus no I-told-you-so, which was a win.) And I kept writing. Ex-librarian and addicted to Lego and romance.
