Why this book and why now?
My inspiration came in a random form of a drive, seeing a car licence plate, and thinking the letters on it would make a great name for a character. Thus, Eri was born. She wouldn’t shut up for the next two hours and I tried to hard to remember everything she was telling me as I was driving and couldn’t write it down.
How does it feel to finally share this book with readers?
It’s scary and exhilarating. It’s not something I ever thought would really happen. Now that it is happening I am so unbelievably excited for them to meet the characters who kicked all of this off.
What’s one fun fact about your book that most people wouldn’t know?
I am just as ‘un-tech-savvy’ (as I call it) as Eri is.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Eri doesn’t really watch TV but she lets Natalia binge watch the reality TV shows she loves so much. She finds them easy to just have on and zone out to.
Which character was the most fun to write, and which was the hardest?
Veronica was the most fun. She’s a huge flirt and a troublemaker. The hardest was Natalia as she has gone through so much in her life.
Did any of your characters surprise you by developing in unexpected ways?
Natalia actually turned out fiercer than I thought she would. But as she grew and developed as a person, she found out how brave she can be.
If you could spend a day with one character from the book, who would it be and why?
Eri… because she’s so damn delicious!
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Eri is having coffee… black. Other than that, she really only drinks water. I’ll toast her with my favourite French Earl Grey tea
If your book had a scent, what would it smell like?
Roses… probably much to Eri’s disgust
Do you outline your books in detail, or do you prefer to discover the story as you write?
I am allergic to outlining, I just can’t do it. I usually start with a character name and a vague occupation for them, then they completely take over everything that happens.
