QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves the IHS BookFinder.
TB here. When Miranda first proposed building a sapphic book database, I laughed.
I asked, “Do you know how to do that because I don’t?”
Here’s something you might not know. When Miranda sets her sights on something, she doesn’t quit. She found us a company who knew how to build the database. Still, I balked. You see, databases are expensive.
Miranda didn’t quit on convincing me about the importance of building a sapphic book database.
Finally, I gave in and given the state the world right now, I’m so glad I did.
When we launched the BookFinder in October of 2022, it had 1,000 books. Recently, we crossed 9,000 books.
You may not know this, I’m the one who enters the books into the database. Once I agreed to building the database, I went all in.
Now we’re hoping to hit 10,000 books before the end of the year. That’s a lot of sapphic book goodness!
