Here are five random facts about Sage Donnell.
1. I hated dresses as a kid, but now I almost always wear a dress.
2. I was born in Minnesota but only lived there for two months.
3. I’m bad at languages but have learned a fair amount of several including German, Spanish, and Polish (which I can’t speak at all anymore but used to be quite good at). My daughter has recently decided I should learn a little Tamil, too, so here we go.

Have you read The Loves of Her Life yet?

Before buying a “free” book, please ensure it’s free in your marketplace. Amazon has a habit of changing the price of permafree titles in stores outside of the US. Please know this it out of the author’s control and we are unable to check prices in all Amazon stores.
Some of the books are only free today, May 9, 2025, so don’t miss out!

Meet Freddie! Freddie loves his ball and would not be out without one. Also any chance for a swim, I think he is part duck. Submitted by Nat, a sapphic reader.
Today’s post is also sponsored by Alison Naomi Holt. Please check out Elyon’s Ghost.

HAVE YOU VOTED IN THE LATEST BOOKS OF THE MONTH POLL?
Voting for April Books of the Month closes on May 31.
QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves a drag show in Pittsburgh.
Police raided Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ+ venue P Town Bar recently during a drag event, ordering patrons to leave without offering any explanation beyond calling it a “compliance check.” Undeterred, the crowd of performers and attendees took to the street, turning the moment into a spontaneous public performance and refusing to let the raid dim their spirit.
QBurgh called the moment one of “resistance, solidarity, and improvisational beauty,” emphasizing that it “reminded everyone there that drag isn’t just entertainment, it’s political. And when the music stops, the queens don’t.”

That’s all for today.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
