This book is part of the Ireland category in the 2026 IHS Reading Challenge.

Why did you write In Lori’s Eyes?

I had published ‘Journey to Her,’ a travel romance, and decided to continue the series. I love Ireland, and so the place came first. Like Ireland, the story is gentle and wholesome.

Who is your favorite character in the book?

I like both the MCs, especially Kaitlyn. There is one quirky character, Pat, who might share some of my characteristics.

What part of In Lori’s Eyes was the most fun to write?

The tour of Ireland. I had, of course, visited a couple of times, but I needed to do a heap of research. I like to be accurate.

If you’re planning a sequel, can you share a tiny bit about your plans for it?

‘In Lori’s Eyes’ was the second in The Cleo Club Travel series. I have already published the third, ‘The Price of Love’. This time, we explore Vancouver Island while Jan and Bella fall in love.

What is your writing process like?

Total pantser. Sometimes, I can’t write for days because there are so many possibilities.

Where do you usually write, and what do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused?

I write in my little office. My desk is a mess. There are calendars, notebooks, pads, unopened bank statements, and photos of the most important people in my life. Ordo ab Chao.

If you could spend a day with another popular author, whom would you choose?

Taylor Jenkins Reid comes to mind. I loved ‘Atmosphere’. My favourite crime writer is Tana French. She really ups the genre. I especially enjoyed her Dublin series.

What are three words that describe your personality?

I like to think I’m witty and kind, as others have called me. I know I’m a bit of a pedant.

What is the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given about writing, and by whom?

My first editor pointed out that I was writing about and for Americans while using my British voice.

What has helped or hindered you most when writing a book?

Accuracy. It means a lot of research. Also, I don’t subscribe to the idea that every book has a few typos.

When you’re writing an emotional or difficult scene, how do you set the mood?

Usually from memories.

If you could be mentored by a famous author (living or not), who would it be?

Sappho

What type of books do you enjoy reading the most?

I read a lot of lesbian romance. This has been the case since I started writing it. I also enjoy crime novels.

Are there any books or authors that inspired you to become a writer?

Truthfully, my wife encouraged me to write as I was just moping around the house during COVID.

What books did you grow up reading?

Enid Blyton up to about age ten. Then, a lot of pulp fiction, until a colleague introduced me to the Russians. I don’t think any of this pointed me in the direction of lesbian romance.

What books have you read more than once in your life?

I particularly remember ‘Les Enfants Terribles’ because I finished the book, thought about it for a while, and then realized it was more nuanced than I’d understood. I instantly turned back to page one.

Meet Linda M. Ford

I have lived in the UK, France, the USA, and Canada, and visited many other countries. I often include these places in my books. When not writing, I enjoy taking photos, especially of wildlife. I am a whale enthusiast, and this usually means going out on the water to find them. Still, once or twice a year, I can spot orcas from my balcony on Vancouver Island.
