As the year came to a close, we had one burning question for book lovers everywhere: What were your top 5 sapphic reads of 2025?
Luckily our readers like to share! We look forward to passing along these recommendations to you daily into the new year.
Here are Deb’s top sapphic reads of 2025:
1. Paramour Promise by Chelsey Spicer
It’s just raw. And powerful. Youngish adults with their own issues doing their very best for the teens in their care. And the issues those teens are going through! It’s just so well written with excellent characters I could empathise with. Lots of feels in this one. I really didn’t want it to finish.
2. The Rules of Forever by Nan Campbell
Two women, opposites in many ways, who share a genuine connection and have to work hard to manage their frustrations and work through their issues to try and get that happy ending. Nan Campbell can really write people. All the thoughts and emotions that precede dialogue are so genuine. Such a good story.
3. They Say She Tastes Like Honey by Michele Sawyer
It’s so funny in places but it’s not a traditional rom-com by any means. Macy has done pretty well in life but to say she’s cut a few corners is an understatement. There’s an element of her trying to keep all the balls in the air as she tries to hold everything together. I like strong characters, even if they are flawed and occasionally make poor choices as in this case. A fun read.
4. Calumet by Ali Vali
I thought this was going to a pretty standard 2nd chance, high school reunion with a spot of conflict resolution and an HEA. I was wrong. It’s a superb piece of writing. Multilayered with a cast of characters who all have a significant role to play in bringing the story together. There is reconnection, a spot of angst, mystery, dealing with issues from the past, and of course, the title of the book (which I had to look up).
5. 6 Times We Almost Kissed by Tess Sharpe
I felt this was more of a family drama than a romance although there is an undercurrent throughout the story. As may be picked up from the title. So it’s a s-l-o-w burn. There is also tragedy and a lot of conflict and associated trauma but it is such a well written story I found it hard to put down.
