5 Random Things is our way of helping readers to get to know top sapphic book authors all the while having a bit of fun.
Here are five random facts about Vivien Nash.
1. When I was in elementary school, I got into a fight with a teacher because she was adamant that flying squirrels did not exist. They do. I even explained they glide and not actually fly and she did not believe me. I’m still mad about it.
2. In my family, we have a bunny named Bunny and a cat called Scratch, because–you guessed it, she used to scratch (what kitten doesn’t?!). Name originality is not in my genes, and it’s definitely reflecting in my book titles.
3. I may or may not have been jokingly called a vampire at times. I glare at the sun, cannot stand the heat, and suffer from the ACHOO syndrome (strong light tickling my nose makes me sneeze!). I may also possibly maybe have been birthed in the land of vampires (not that specific region, to be fair!). Alas, I do love garlic. (I haven’t written a vampire story yet, but I absolutely will).
4. I got into writing through roleplaying–I thrived off the instant feedback I’d get by having a writing partner, to the point I did not believe I’d ever be able to author a book all by myself. Thankfully, past me was right about herself, or my debut would have not existed. Also thankfully, she was wrong about her future self, or the story that’s been swirling in my head for the past few years would’ve never come to life.
5. All I read is sapphic romance, and my stories will always be sapphic (romance level debatable, because I’m also a fan of the action), but I scowl at love songs.
Have you read Virelai’s Hoard yet?

Before buying a “free” book, please ensure it’s free in your marketplace. Amazon has a habit of changing the price of permafree titles in stores outside of the US. Please know this it out of the author’s control and we are unable to check prices in all Amazon stores.
Some of the books are only free today, January 30, 2026, so don’t miss out!

Meet Goulash! To Goulash, strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet. There is nothing in this world that he loves more than a good cuddle. Submitted by Lydia Finch, a sapphic author.
Today’s post is also sponsored by Marie Cardno. Please check out The Monster Girlfriend Series.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves drag queen.
Los Angeles drag performer Lauren Banall has raised thousands of dollars for the American Civil Liberties Union after a TikTok impersonation of conservative figure Erika Kirk went viral.
Banall’s lip-sync videos using Kirk’s audio have racked up more than 10.5 million views on the platform. In the clips, Banall appears in a blonde wig, red blazer, and glittering top, pairing exaggerated facial expressions with audio of Kirk incorrectly quoting a Bible passage and urging conspiracy theorists to stop spreading false claims about her husband.
Read about it here and we recommend watching the videos in the article if you need a laugh.
That’s all for today.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
