Why this book and why now?
I write Butch/Femme pairings, and one of my readers sent me a picture of a gorgeous butch in a perfect suit and said I need to write her into a book. And that was it.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
It went from dual pov to three pov. The ending changed as far as the culpability of the final act as well.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
I would get along with two out of the three main characters. 🙂
Did any real-life events or personal experiences influence the story?
The Rebecca Marodi case slightly inspired it (the LA fire chief who was murdered by her wife and the wife went on the run and still hasn’t been caught).
How does it feel to finally share this book with readers?
I’m really excited by this one since it’s the first one I’ve done fully independently.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Macy: Forensic Files or any true crime show
Parker: It wouldn’t matter. If the TV is on, it’s probably for background noise.
Calypso: She would be the reality show binger. Like Ultimatum and Ink Master or Miami Ink
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Parker: Calypso and a good book
Calypso: Art supplies and something to play music on.
Macy: Parker and a weapon of some sort
Which character do you relate to the most, and why?
Calypso would be the most similar to me. She has more of the artist mentality and looks at life like I do. Materialism and money matters aren’t important to her. She’s more about the people in her life and not getting wrapped up in a past that will only drag you down. Her wife is all about bottom line and being organized and logical (like my wife). So our dynamics are similar.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
Hozier- Hymn to Virgil. That song is literally the entire mood for the book. The original title was Burn the World which is one of the lines of the chorus to that song.
Or Ella Boh- Little Bit – it’s a song about obsession confused as love which… Well it tracks.
If your book had an official mascot, what (or who) would it be?
Parker’s cat which she never named and only called The Cat or Kitty because she was too busy to name it.
What are you currently reading?
I’m currently reading Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil. It’s absolutely beautiful. I love it.
If you could have dinner with any author, living or dead, who would it be?
Anne Rice. Hands down. She was the first author that made me fall in love with reading.
