Let’s have some silly fashion fun.
TB here.
Before I get to the details of this event, I want to make it very clear that I came up with this idea and I find it funny. Sometimes people worry that stating a fact, like I don’t have fashion sense, will hurt my feelings. It doesn’t. I’m very much aware I don’t care about fashion. And I don’t care if people get a chuckle out of my outfits. I’ve reached an age where I simply don’t give a damn about the little things anymore and I love smiles and laughing. I have a feeling this event will make me grin a lot.
While writing Not Today Satan, we had to do a deep dive into the world of fashion. Well, I did. Miranda is a former costumer and has been a fashion person since the sixth grade when she started sporting a pearl necklace. Not a real one.
I’ve never given much thought to fashion. A fact that drove my mother insane and was the cause of many arguments. Like why start a fight over khaki pants and a polo shirt?
Right before we launched Not Today Satan, Miranda and I went for a walk at the local rail trail. We passed not one, but two dogs who wore fantabulous outfits. One even had on adorable matching shoes.
That was when I said to Miranda, “How come dogs are always better dressed than me?”
Miranda tried to handle this diplomatically by saying, “Because their owners make them.”
We even have a dog in Not Today Satan who rocked wonderful outfits. Granted, his mother is a fashion designer.
A few days later, I came up with an idea. Why not ask the IHS community for adorable photos of their pets in cute outfits and/or accessories.
When I proposed this event to Miranda, she loved the idea.
I said, “We need to get a picture of me in a terrible outfit.”
She responded with, “What about what you’re wearing right now?”
I glanced at my clothing choices and laughed. “Yes, this works.”

Just in case you can’t see all the details, I’m wearing Christmas pajama bottoms (they’re super soft!), a Halloween shirt that has Boo Bees (Get it?), and a flannel shirt (I own about 30 flannel shirts, and I hardly ever match them to what I’m wearing).
If you haven’t guessed it yet, I prefer comfort over style. It’s not that I don’t appreciate style, I do. It’s just that I’d rather wear pajama bottoms and a t-shirt every day of my life. It should be noted this picture was taken at Miranda’s. I keep a change of clothes there because I hate wearing jeans or trousers and will only do that when forced to, like when I’m out in public. At home (mine or Miranda’s) this is what I typically look like.
If you have a pet that’s better dressed than me, we want to see the photo. Not only that, but we also want to share the photo with the IHS community. It’s been a difficult year. Let’s have some fun and put smiles on people’s faces.
If you don’t have a pet but still want to have some fun, you can share plants, stuffed animals, or whatnot in outfits and/or accessories. We do ask you not to share photos of children for safety reasons.
Submit your photos here. Yes, you can share more than one photo if you’d like, but you have to submit a different form for each photo.
