Clue #5: One of the characters in my latest novel was supposed to be the villain, based off of all of the worst character traits of some exes, but I loved her so much, it turned into a why choose. I guess I never learn.

5 Random Things is our way of helping readers to get to know top sapphic book authors all the while having a bit of fun.
Here are five random facts about Jazzy Mitchell.
1. I used to deal blackjack during college and law school.
2. I have a twin brother, and I can’t count the number of times someone has asked me whether we are identical. (That’s not possible for twins who are not the same sex.)
3. My wife and I adopted three children and turned in our foster licenses so we wouldn’t be tempted to keep adding to the family.
4. Since my wife took my surname when we got married, I took hers for my pen name.
5. My grandfather was a boxer who beat the featherweight champion at the Boston Garden. Like him, I’m a southpaw.
Have you read You Matter Goes yet?

Before buying a “free” book, please ensure it’s free in your marketplace. Amazon has a habit of changing the price of permafree titles in stores outside of the US. Please know this it out of the author’s control and we are unable to check prices in all Amazon stores.

Meet Char-Lee! Char-Lee’s got that perfect work-life balance—she shows up on time, stays in the mix, and still manages to steal the spotlight at every coffee break with her toy and that ridiculous, irresistible grin. Submitted by Aunt Georgia Lee, a sapphic author.
Today’s post is also sponsored by Isabella. Please check out Undercover Desire.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves a gay couple.
Antwon and Nate Chavis didn’t become parents in the way they once expected. After twelve years together and eight years of marriage, they entered the foster care system in 2017, thinking they would offer short-term support to children who needed stability. Instead, the experience transformed their lives, deepened their idea of what family could be, and ultimately brought them to adoption.
Over time, the couple opened their home to several children in long-term care. Each arrived with unique experiences, strengths, and challenges. Some eventually moved on to new chapters, but one remained and became their daughter.
Some connections have continued well beyond the foster placement. Their first foster daughter, for instance, continues to see them as family. Each year, they bring her and her siblings along for back-to-school shopping and holiday gifts. “It’s a blessing,” Antwon said. “She knows she’ll always have us in her life, in some capacity.”

That’s all for today.
