Why this book and why now?

Lane was my favourite character from Falls From Grace and I really wanted to explore them! I knew they were loyal and irreverent, but I knew they had more to them. I also wanted to continue Savannah and Brynn’s story and find out more about Savannah’s family, so jumping ahead a couple of years to check in with where they were all at made a lot of sense to me.

I love the enemies to lovers trope and the idea of Lane meeting someone who was so polar opposite to them really appealed. To me, my favourite thing about enemies to lovers is the idea of two people each meeting someone who really challenges them to break out of their own preconceived notions – about the world and about themselves – so this is what I set out to achieve with this pairing.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

Lane would think I was depressingly old and boring but I would adore the hell out of them. I relate to their reticent streak and their struggle to figure out exactly where they fit into the world as well as their use of humour to keep people at a distance. I’d deeply love to get to adopt Lane, in exactly the same way Savannah and Brynn do.

What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?

Lane would take their headphones, sunglasses and a hoodie they could hide under, just in case they bumped into another human out there away from civilisation and were forced to interact.

One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.

If you want to know the story of Lane planning a romantic night you can absolutely read this in the final book in the trilogy, Saving Graces. But Cassidy? She’d be harder to pin down. Cassidy is someone who likes being chased and who struggles to be vulnerable so I think she’d find it really exposing to go out and create a romantic night for someone she wanted. But for Lane I reckon she’d try.

I think Cassidy would probably organise a horse ride together out to somewhere beautiful where they could be alone. She’d have made Lane’s favourite cookies and her secret agenda would be getting Lane to finally talk and be vulnerable with her, because they both struggle with this and she’d know how much it meant to hear them really speak about their life.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.

A margarita! This book is pure summer, heat waves and swimming pools, so it would ice cold salt and lemon all the way.
