1. I have a cat called Macavity (IYKYK) who likes to curl up and sleep while I write, but loves to wake up and play whenever we’re recording an episode of Bookish & Unbalanced.
2. I drink my coffee black; never order me a latte, or tell me it’s coffee. It’s merely warm milk which has once seen a coffee bean.
3. I once worked as a Forensic Scientist, with a specialism in controlled substances.
4. I was such a big Star Trek: Voyager fan when I was a teenager I spent weeks making a cardboard replica of a Borg Cube.
5. I am distantly related to Sir Robert Walpole, who is generally regarded as the first Prime Minister of Britain.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves a wedding.
We’re suckers for happy ever afters and today’s story definitely tugged on our heartstrings.
After leaving their home country in search of better lives for themselves and their children, two women arrived in Denver. The journey to the US was harrowing. Upon reaching Denver, they couldn’t afford a marriage license, but an organization that supports immigrants came to their aid, even covering the cost of the wedding.
We wish the couple well and congrats!
