SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend and Pride!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic reader Tessa shares a Caturday photo of two beauties.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out sapphic fiction author Jamey Moody with the book See You Next Month.

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB and Miranda’s visit to Washington Irving’s Sunnyside.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. Two things I love are a good beer and a long road trip. So far, I have tried a brew in thirty-one of the fifty US states (and I have visited all fifty too). My quest continues, but as of now, my favorite breweries have been in New Jersey, Oregon, and Alaska.
2. I love animals, especially cats. At times, I have fostered them, especially kittens. One summer, I had thirteen kittens (and three adult cats and two dogs). Needless to say, it was chaotic. I’ve narrowed down the number to only three adult cats—Chester, Agnes, and Fergie.
3. The book I loved to write the most takes place primarily in the town of Astoria, Oregon. In this ongoing series, my group of women there face challenge after challenge (yet always manage to fall in love).
4. After a lifetime of wishing and dozens of unfinished drafts, I didn’t start writing complete sapphic romance novels until I was fifty years old. I attribute the breakthrough to the rise of self-publishing, and I have become a large advocate of authors using that process for success.
5. My current novel is set along the coastline of Coos Bay, OR because of the natural beauty of the area. I like to write books in places that I know well and are close to home. Thirteen of my twenty-two stories are set in the state of Oregon.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is KC Luck!

KC Luck’s bio:

TB is determined to spread good rainbow news during 2024, which let’s face, is going to be a rough year. There are a lot of elections all over the world, which means we’re in for a lot of scaremongering. While it’s important to stay informed, it’s also vital not to lose sight of all the kindness in the world. Below are the happy queer stories that made TB smile this week. They’re queer news links worth clicking!

Veteran comes out as gay in his own obituary so he can ‘rest in peace’ — It’s a shame he didn’t get a chance to read all the lovely comments. Rest in peace and thank you for your service.

Jamey Moody with the book See You Next Month

Have you read See You Next Month by Jamey Moody yet? Here’s the tagline: Can you bring paradise home?

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels and find out what sapphic books they’ve brought along!

TB here.

Three weekends ago, Miranda and I went to New York to celebrate our 50th birthdays. One of the places we visited was Sunnyside, the home of Washington Irving. He was an American author and is best known for his Headless Horseman and Rip Van Winkle characters. The house sits next to the Hudson River.

I didn’t know much about Irving before visiting, but I have to say, from what I learned, he sounded like a really nice man. The turkey on the property was anything but nice and for many minutes wouldn’t let Miranda and I out of the car. It wasn’t just us. Everyone who visited during our time there had a run in with the turkey. It should be noted, no one hurt the turkey. Miranda and I had to repark the car and then we ran for our lives to get to the house. Who knew visiting an author’s house could be dangerous?

Here are some photos of Sunnyside.

Happy Pride!

Miranda & TB
