Why this book and why now?
This book is related to my series “The Sam Barrett Ops”. Throughout that series, I jumped ahead in the main character’s life, skipping many years. I decided to go back and fill in some gaps. This book is the first in “The Missions” series. It goes back to her life in the Air Force and as a sometimes spy for the CIA.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
Yes, I think we’d get along. She’s a strong, independent woman with some flaws and I like that. She knows how to stand up for herself, she’s good at her job, humble, romantic, and funny.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Castle or Rizzoli and Isles for the law enforcement and strong female lead characters. She also likes sci-fi, so Star Trek (any of them).
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Samantha Barrett is a resourceful person, and her father (and the USAF) prepared her for just these types of situations. It would depend on where she was stranded like an island, the woods, or the desert, but she’d want the following: 1. a big knife, for protection, building shelter, and hunting. 2. Firestarter, for making fire (although she could rub two sticks together, if it came down to it). 3. a first aid kit (loaded with stuff) for injuries and whatever else comes up.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
Ride by Martina McBride. It’s about life being a rollercoaster ride and that is Sam’s life. The lyrics tell you to have faith, laugh when you want to cry, and hold on tight. It’s an upbeat song and make me feel a little better when I’m down.
