Why this book and why now?
I wanted to write a shifter romance that hasn’t been done much before, and I had the idea to write about women who shift into cougars. Of course, cougar has a double-meaning, so I rolled with it! I ended up with a steamy age-gap romance between a woman who arrives in Cougar Woods in search of her missing twin and one of the cougars who might have something to do with the disappearance.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
The theme and deeper meaning of every book I write becomes apparent as I draft it. While I started with the basic plot arc of Cougar Woods, by the time I finished writing it, I ended up with a layered and meaningful story about two women who have spent their lives controlled by other people, and how they find the courage to overcome that.
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Cougars are solitary creatures, so Winter would love being stranded away from civilization! She’d bring books, a hammock, a mini bar, and just enjoy her time alone.
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.
They would have a romantic night on a mountaintop under the stars, with cozy blankets, a campfire nearby, drinks and snacks on hand, and nobody but the two of them for miles.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
