California is currently the most populous state in the US, a tradition which dates back to pre-European times when one-third of all Native Americans were believed to reside in the region. It’s a land of infinite diversity, from shorelines to deserts, mountains, and forests. It has also in recent years faced extreme challenges from our changing climate, including droughts, fires, and floods.
