Today is National Kansas Day

National Kansas Day
We are celebrating Kansas, The Sunflower State!

Here are some interesting things you may not know about Kansas:

Kansas became the 34th state on January 29, 1861.

Fertile soil has made Kansas the “Breadbasket of the World.”

Frank L. Baum wrote a very famous book set in Kansas about a little girl named Dorothy. The Wizard of Oz is much loved and became an even greater movie watched by countless millions. You can explore it here.  Maybe think about watching it to celebrate National Kansas Day!

Today we are bringing you three sapphic books with main characters who live in Kansas or are from Kansas.

Curious what tomorrow’s special day will be?

Make sure to check back each day for your daily calendar trivia, along with more great book recommendations! Any day spent reading sapphic books is a day to be celebrated!
