Why this book and why now?
I had this idea back in 2017 when Brey and I were watching a true crime programme about identity theft. But I was under contract to Bold Strokes, and they didn’t want it. However, the idea of having a book and your life stolen from you stuck with me, and as soon as I became an Indie author, I knew it would be one of my first books.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
The romance is a lot stronger than I’d anticipated and the book revolves around that more than Luca’s desperation to escape her situation. In the end, she’d rather remain a captive so that Marissa can be free to live her life.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Luca would likely binge watch Carnival Row – she loves fantasy, and she has written an urban fantasy trilogy, which are the books Casey Soto steals from her.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
Marissa’s favourite book is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. She holds out a desperate hope that her father can be redeemed in the same way Scrooge is. You have to read my book to find out if he is!
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it. What do they do?
Luca is incredibly romantic, so there’d be soft music, rose petals scattered all over the bed, and the best champagne she could afford.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Luca is a bartender when we join her story – she’d probably make everyone mojito diablos. The creme de cassis gives it a fruity taste, and Luca can be very fruity!
1.5 ounces white tequila
0.5 ounce creme de cassis
