Why this book and why now?
Truthfully, I never planned to write a book. I especially didn’t plan on publishing one. Experiencing new things is exciting and keeps my chaotic mind focused and occupied. One of my friends challenged me to write a novel in under thirty days and so I wrote the first draft of Round Trip in twenty seven days.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
I simply sat down and starting writing with no idea of what I was going to write. I still wonder if the story didn’t create itself and if I was merely the tool it used to materialize. Once I was finished with the first draft I noticed one of my characters was a real bitch. Even I wanted to slap her face, and I’m somewhat passive. So, I softened her character a little bit more with each revision.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
I am my main character and though we often argue, we love each other and are the closest of friends.
Do your character names have special significance or meaning?
None whatsoever. I did have to come up with names that fit the main character’s nickname GOTH. George, Ophelia, Tori and Hudson were what I came up with after a quick online search of names.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Orphan Black or Killing Eve because chaos and confusion elsewhere, other than her mind, gives her comfort.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
Pirates of Aletharia by Britany Jackson because Tori likes challenging women, magical worlds, and happy endings.
Aside from the obvious food and shelter, what 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Tori is never alone because she has Dick and Dotty to keep her company. However if they were to somehow disappear from her mind she’d want a vivid imagination, creatures to talk to, and a soft warm ground to sleep on.
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it. What do they do?
She would turn her guest room into a dungeon and buy out the local sex shop, then order pizza and wine.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!
Manderin and orange tea with honey because that is what my wife smells like and without her my debut novel would not be possible.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
Lost On You by LP. She likes the beat and the mood this song puts her in.
