Why this book and why now?

I read all kinds of romance novels – FF, MF, MM and some poly situations. I love to mix up the tropes and I’ll read rom-coms to dark dark romance. However, I noticed that I was struggling to find sapphic romances that are really dark and gritty like the MF and MM ones I read. I wanted something less ‘nice’ and more tortured. So, I decided to write the book I wanted to read.

What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?

My bisexual MC, Francesca, went through a lot of changes in the writing process. She was more meek to start with and my partner told me she was coming across as too pathetic! So I toughened her up a bit while still allowing her to be the damsel in distress at times.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

I would have a big ol’ crush on Giovanna. Brooding, butch, and in charge! Francesca I think would frustrate me sometimes but I have a big sister affection for her.

Do your character names have special significance or meaning?

Nope! I just liked them! They needed to be Italian, but I just browsed and found I liked them.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

Francesca and Massimo watch Parks and Rec!

What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?

Hmmm, Giovanna doesn’t have time to read but would probably read paperback thrillers.

Aside from the obvious food and shelter, what 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?

Giovanna and Francesca would take each other, plus…something to play music on and Gio would have a weapon of some kind.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!

Francesca would toast me with a quality Prosecco and Giovanna is a whiskey gal.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Songs are important to Gio and Francesca. They use songs to communicate how they feel to each other and about life in general. Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls becomes especially important to them. You’ll have to read the book to find out why 🙂
