Why this book and why now?

My inspiration was a combination of missing my college friends and the song Two Little Girls by Ani DiFranco back in 2000. It was my thesis project for my masters degree. Indie publishing wasn’t what it is now, so it ended up in a drawer. The changes in publishing combined with encouragement from some indie author friends convinced me to finally check published author off my bucket list.

What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?

When I started writing, I had every intention of September and Mattie ending up together. Kate and September had other ideas though, so eventually I gave in and let them have their way.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

I have no doubt September, Mattie, and Kate would have had weekly watch parties of The L Word. Who wouldn’t want to watch a drama full of sexy lesbians while eating tasty treats whipped up by September?

Aside from the obvious food and shelter, what 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?

September is an artist. She would absolutely want her art supplies, books, and Hostess Snoballs!

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!

Kate is actually a bit of a traditionalist. To her, there’s no better choice to celebrate a big event than a glass of champagne.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Mattie knows how to get a party started and she would put on Groove is in the Heart by Deee-Lite. It’s catchy, upbeat, and almost impossible not to dance to!
