Why this book and why now?
I am a huge fan of YA books and back when I first started writing this book in 2018 there were fewer sapphic romance novels so I wrote the book I wished I had available to me in high school. If I had a book where I could see myself on the page, I might have accepted myself sooner in life.
Do your character names have special significance or meaning?
They don’t! All my character’s names just randomly pop into my head. I also make sure I don’t know anyone by the same name.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
She’s currently watching She-Hulk because she’s a huge lover of all things Marvel.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
My main character, Shorty, LOVES The Hunger Games series because she looks up to Katniss. She’s also a big fan of all things adventure. It helps keep her mind off of her failing relationships.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
Shorty would put on “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga at the start of my book launch party because that’s the song her love interest Kristy puts on during homecoming. It has a special meaning between the two of them.
