Why this book and why now?
This book began as a short story the publisher loved and wanted to expand on.
Now is the perfect time because having worked on my craft I feel like I am able to tackle the depth of this story better than previously.
Plus Jiminy was getting too loud 😉
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
From short story to a single standalone novel to a series. There was so much Kiera and the characters she meets demanded to say that I had no idea about when I started.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Startrek Voyager – because she has always felt lost in the Delta Quandrant, in search of a ‘home’ where she belongs.
Aside from the obvious food and shelter, what 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Hmmm this one is tricky. It changes from the start to the end but let’s go with end Kiera. She would want her sword – because it is an extension of herself and her strength. She would want her boots, a reminder and a powerful lesson she learned. Third one would be her phone. She would want that as communication to aunt Em.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!
Coffee black. Kiera is an addict to the caffeine buzz. It’s also indicative of how she feels connected to captain Janeway, Lost in the delta quadrant with the responsibilities on her shoulders.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
L.A Song by Beth Hart. It was the first song I added to The Void’s playlist when I started writing Kiera. It’s the story of her life so far at the time we first meet her. She wants to always get out of where she is.
