Why this book and why now?

This is the third book in my No Man is Her Master series so I guess I could say my protagonist’s story was far from finished. In the beginning, I was fascinated by the idea of exploring a time and place (14th century Europe) in which strong female characters are rarely featured, let alone Sapphic ones.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

I believe so. I really admire Christina Kohl’s sense of right and wrong and strong convictions, even if they are misguided at times. Wig Reiniken would be a great companion at the pub, but would undoubtedly cause trouble. Trudi Waldron is the perfect friend and confidante, always willing to help you work through your problems, but not afraid to let you know when you’re wrong.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

Probably the Vikings series. Christina Kohl would be absolutely enthralled with Lagertha, who she would see as a grown-up version of herself. I think Christina would definitely fancy herself to be a shield maiden if she were born four centuries earlier. She’d also be very interested in the fight scenes as she’s always looking to improve her own skills.

One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it. What do they do?

Throughout the No Man is Her Master series, it seems sex and love comes to Christina Kohl completely unexpectedly. The idea of being able to plan an evening with her beloved Cecily would be a tremendous excitement for her. Perhaps she would ask Cecily to accompany her into the rural countryside on a warm August evening. Led through a copse of silvery birch trees, Cecily would be delighted to discover they had arrived at a small pond. Quickly throwing their clothes off, they would swim and frolic in the water until darkness fell and they collapsed on the clover-covered bank where they would enjoy the pleasure of satisfying their lusts. Afterwards, Christina would fetch sweetmeats and wine from her horse Pearl’s saddlebag and they would lie nestled in each other’s arms, gazing at the stars and talking into the wee hours of the morning of their plans for a beautiful life together.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Christina loves to dance, so she would plan to begin the festivities with a rollicking tune that would bring everyone to their feet. In tribute to her German heritage, Faun’s Walpurgisnacht would definitely be at the top of her modern-day playlist!
