Why this book and why now?
I had been planning on introducing Sophia’s daughter, Callie, since the beginning of the Cove series. It felt right now because Sophia and Emily are in a healthy relationship where they can overcome that big, shocking news. I also wanted Callie to be able to have the found family she’s never had before.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
Originally I was going to have Callie show up at the end of Champagne Problems. But it didn’t feel right. Having her show up now, with all the character’s we’ve already met starting to settle down, it seemed like the perfect time to mix things up a bit.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Arden would binge watch Everybody Loves Raymond. She loves the family dynamic on the show and how it reminds her of her crazy awesome parents.
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Callie would bring a blanket to stay warm, her favorite book to keep rereading, and seeds to grow a garden. She’s resourceful and used to being on her own, but she isn’t going to go without a blanket and a book.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
Arden and Callie would pick Shake It Off by Taylor Swift. They’d know the song sometimes annoys me and yet I can’t stop from dancing and singing along when it comes on. Which makes it a great celebratory song!
