Why this book and why now?

I’ve always wanted to write a holiday themed book, so this was the year. It’s my attempt at a Hallmarkesque story, but in typical fashion I had to go a little rogue, so it’s set in a homeless shelter.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

I have to admit that I have a little crush on Piper, so, yeah, we’d get along. This is my 9th book, and she is the second character that I’ve developed a crush on while writing. The first was Jill from my debut novel Broken Not Shattered. They both just have a spirit about them that I couldn’t help root for.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. Family Is Forever features two adorable kids, Paxton and Maddie, so my main characters would want to make sure to pick a show that’s family friendly.

What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?

Piper’s favorite book is Evicted: Poverty and Profit in an American City by Matthew Desmond. It is a Pulitzer prize winning book about poverty in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Family Is Forever is set.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.

They will be drinking Strawberry Crush pop (or soda for those not from the Midwest). Paxton loves all things strawberry, so he would insist. It’s much better than the strawberry corn dog he eats in the book. And yes, there is such a thing at the Strawberry Festival in Wisconsin.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Jaycee chooses Run Rudolph Run by Chuck Berry just to see Piper dance to it.
