Why this book and why now?
I love YA Fantasy as a reader, so when I decided to try my hand at writing a novel, I knew it was best to do it in a genre I felt comfortable with. I built an entire world in book one, A Talent Within, and it seemed only right to let the characters have more “screentime” by writing a second book in Valmora.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
Evelyne and I would be out on the archery range every day, and I’d challenge her and Ishi to throwing knives and shuriken. I’d want to have Annika as a friend. She’s a caretaker and a good person. We’d go to lunch and dish about Evelyne.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Hilfa the blacksmith is a side character, but she’d watch Forged in Fire.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
Annika needs to read “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” She’s got a lot of enemies in this novel.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
Nouvelle-Orleans by La Femme. Ignore the reference to New Orleans and imagine it is Marsendale in my novels, and the rest of the lyrics fit Annika’s situation well.
