Here are Elizabeth Luly’s top sapphic reads of 2023:
1. Purposefully Accidental by G Benson
This books checks all the boxes for me – an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers celebrity/doctor romance that made me laugh out loud, but also involved a sensitive portrayal of grief.
2. Stars Collide by Rachel Lacey
I love celebrity romances, and this one rocked! There was great chemistry, and the slow burn really paid off. A lot of fun.
3. Losing Control by JJ Arias
Yes, you might be sensing a theme here-celebrity romances are my jam. This one was super hot, featuring rockstar Roxxxy and her strait-laced agent Adriana. The chemistry was to die for!
4. Imogen Obviously by Becky Albertalli
I loved this YA exploration of biphobia and queer gatekeeping. I related strongly to Imogen’s confusion and second guessing of her sexuality, which mirrored a lot of my own thoughts as a teen.
5. Pride and Prejudice and Pittsburg by Racheal Lippincort
This YA time travel romance is fast paced and very entertaining. Audrey, living in modern day Pittsburg, is at a loose end after being dumped and waitlisted for her dream college. She’s transported back to Regency England where she meets Lucy, who is due to be wed against her wishes. I stayed up way too late reading this one to find out what happened!
