Here are Judy’s top sapphic reads of 2023:

1. In The Shadow of the Past by Judy Rodda

Historical fiction with mystery, intrigue, spies and two beautiful women. It’s never boring.

2. Truth and Measure by Roslyn Sinclair

Two memorable characters. One totally straight ice queen, or is she? One younger assistant determined to melt the ice queen’s heart. Beautifully written dialogue with lots of witty banter between the two characters.

3. Forgive Not Forget by Emily Banting

This is a very emotional culmination of the first two books that will tug at your heartstrings. Emily Banting pulls out all stops with her ability to bring you to tears and laughter. Tissues are definitely needed. Beautiful dialogue and great characters.

4. Truth North by Carina Lupo

This book surprised me as I had never read anything by this author before. I love her style of writing. The characters are wonderfully written and easy to relate to. One pianist and one designer come together in an explosion of emotions. This is a definite read again book.

5. These Thin Lines by Milena McKay

No list is complete without a Milena McKay book. It was difficult to choose just one. From page one you become part of the world the author creates. She draws you in with such beautiful descriptions. A genius at writing characters that have depth and nuance. This is a true modern day Cinderella story.
