Why this book and why now?
Writing a novel has been on my to-do list for a very long time. In early 2022, a family tragedy made me reevaluate my life and I decided life is too short to wait any longer. I needed an escape.
Since writing A Perfect Fit, I have had a plethora of ideas run through my mind. However, in the beginning, this was the only story I had and it needed to be told.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
Yes, I think so. Both characters are loosely autobiographical representations of myself at their respective ages. I also have friends of all ages, so I think I could see both of them in my friend group.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
I’ll narrow it to two. They would love American Horror Story (through Roanoke, at least) and The Twilight Zone because they both love old horror.
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
Ella would want The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe, a comfy pair of Chucks, and Parker, of course. She would want to have something to keep her entertained, something comfortable and familiar, and the love of her life.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Well, in the book there’s a few mentions of important drinks as Parker is a bartender. So, let’s say A Sex with the Bartender and A Screaming Orgasm. And if they imbibe too much, a nice single-origin dark roast to deal with tomorrow’s hangover.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
I think Ella and Parker would share a knowing look before playing A Sorta Fairytale by Tori Amos because it brought them together in the end and they would want everyone to experience that scene one more time.
