Here are Jennifer’s top sapphic reads of 2023:

1. Meeting Millie by Clare Ashton

It’s one of the richest friends-to-lovers stories I’ve ever read, taking us through time and the evolution of people’s feelings from one part of their lives to another. And sometimes resulting in roles reversing as people grow and come into their own powers.

2. If I Don’t Ask by EJ Noyes

The sheer force of will for this first person POV is outstanding, if you’ve wondered what the perceived “calm, cool, collected” person was *really* thinking and feeling, this book is un-put-downable.

3. Honey in the Marrow by Emily Waters

People over 40 exist. With all their anxieties, frailties, flaws, desires, needs, and sexiness. They exist and they exist hard and strong.

4. Stars Collide by Rachel Lacey

Between famous or not-so-famous stars, there exists real people. Whatever the age situation, real people have goals and dreams and they have fears. Some that their hard work won’t pay off or it will be at too great a cost, and others that once they’ve reached the top, the only way to go is down, where they are replaced and forgotten.

5. Broken Beyond Repair by Emily Banting

Sometimes, avoiding certain realities, including turning a blind eye to problems or running away from the hurt and grief experienced in your life, can prevent you from living your best, authentic life.
