As the end of the year draws near, we have one question we want to ask book lovers the world over. What were your top 5 sapphic reads of 2023?

Luckily our readers like to share! We look forward to passing along these recommendations to you daily into the new year.

It’s not too late to submit your own top reads and get in on the fun. Click here for the form. Our only rules are that authors may not submit their own books and your list needs to be new-to-you books that were read (not necessarily published) in 2023.

Here are Emily’s top sapphic reads of 2023:

1. On the Same Page by Haley Cass

A great slow burn friends to lovers with fantastic characters.

2. In the Roses of Pieria by Anna Burke

A banger of a sapphic dark academia vampire book.

3. Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs

A fantasy book about estranged sisters, familial connections, a really cool magical system centered around books, with a queer mc and a small sapphic subplot.

4. The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow

Not out this year, but I FINALLY read this fantastic historical fiction witchy book about three estranged sisters with one of them having a sapphic relationship. (honorable mention to her release from this year, Starling House, great gothic story with surprise lesbians for a hot min).

5. The Fiancée Farce by Alexandria Bellefleur

A really fun fake romance book with characters that are really easy to root for.
