Why did you write Unwrap Me?
I had a lot of people tell me they wanted more from my characters Ash and Willow from my first holiday book, and I wanted to stick with a holiday theme so I went with Valentine’s Day. I’ve never personally had a special Valentine’s Day, so I wanted to show that even when things go wrong, if you are with someone you love, it will be end up being perfect.
Who is your favorite character in the book?
I would say Willow is my favorite character because she is the most vocal. I sometimes struggle with saying what I want and need, and I would like to be more like her.
What part of Unwrap Me was the most fun to write?
I think the part I enjoyed writing the most was about tantric yoga.
How did you come up with the title for your book?
I did a play on words from book one, which was called My Gift to You, so I thought Unwrap Me would be a good counterpart.
If you’re planning a sequel, can you share a tiny bit about your plans for it?
I’m not sure if I’m going to have another book in this series or not. But I might do some extra chapters in my Patreon with them.
What is your writing process like?
I’m a total pantser. I never write anything down because I like the story to progress as naturally as possible.
Where do you usually write, and what do you need in your writing space to help you stay focused?
I write in my office with my big Ugg blanket covering me and Thor, my puppy, on my lap.
What’s your favorite writing snack or drink?
Oh, I’m a creature of habit. I drink water and eat protein bars. (Usually No Cow or Quest)
What has helped or hindered you most when writing a book?
I think stress is my biggest hindrance, and staying positive helps me the most.
What do you do to get inside your character’s heads?
That’s a tricky question because the characters are inside my head. HAHA
Have you ever cried when writing an emotional scene?
Oh, I’m a huge crier and a lot of my emotional scenes come from my own experience. Therefore, I end up reliving the event and crying not only for myself but for my characters going through it.
What type of books do you enjoy reading the most?
I love friends to lovers books, rom-coms, and biographies. I think it just depends on my mood as to which one I choose. But anything I read has to have a happy ending.
What books did you grow up reading?
I actually wasn’t a big reader when I was younger. I didn’t start reading for fun until I graduated college. Reading is a time-consuming hobby, and I always had a lot of other things going on in my life that prevented me from doing it. I wish I had enjoyed it more, but at least I love it now!
Describe your favorite reading spot.
I always curl up on my couch with the fireplace on and read with Thor snuggled in my lap or next to me.
