Here are five random facts about Kit Eyre.

1. Judy Garland and ABBA will always make it on to my Spotify Unwrapped every year. Probably with a smattering of musical numbers and country songs!

2. My parents let me name our stray cat when I was younger. I went with Iccolbit but she was more commonly known as Beast.

3. If I could live completely on pasta dishes then I definitely would. Favourite food ever.

4. I once won a holiday talent contest for singing a Spice Girls song but I was too shy to go back on stage and hid in the bathroom.

5. My day job involves running an LGBTQ+ community centre in my hometown.

Meet Snoopy the Dog with a Rainbow Hat

This is my lovely dog called Snoopy with his hat. He is not impressed 😂Submitted by Willeke, a reader. Please note we’re rerunning a pet photo because Miranda is in the hospital and TB has been running around like someone who has no clue if she’s coming or going.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves Ripley’s Believe It or Not!

Florida is book ban crazy at the moment and at the center of this crisis is Escambia County. The school district has purportedly withdrawn more than 2,800 books from library shelves while they undergo a scrutiny process to assess their suitability for students. This even includes certain variations of the dictionary. Apparently knowing definitions of words is dangerous.

They’ve also removed three Ripley’s Believe It or Not! titles from library shelves.

Ripley’s has responded to this nonsense by offering a free book to Florida residents. They have until May 15th to request the book. We applaud their reaction to being banned.

Click here for more deets and if you’re in Florida, you can request your free book.

That’s all for today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
