Why this book and why now?

I fell in love with George, the owner of the local cafe-bookstore Novel Gossip, in my first sapphic romance, Not Just Gal Pals, and couldn’t wait to give her a happily ever after! I was pleased to see many readers felt the same way. She’s such a warm and friendly person, and I thought she would be the perfect partner for Hannah, a fantasy novelist who has anxiety.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

If I was single, I’d definitely date George! She’s warm, caring and fun, and she comes with a gorgeous golden retriever, Max, which is an added bonus.

I’d also enjoy spending time with Hannah. I drew upon my own experience with hearing loss and anxiety when creating her character, so we share some similarities (although thankfully our families are very different!).

What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?

George’s favorite books are Hannah’s fantasy series!

One of Hannah’s recent favorites was Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date by Ashley Herring Blake. She related strongly to both characters—one a romance author with writer’s block, and the other, an actor who has anxiety and panic attacks.

What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?

George would want:

1. Max, her golden retriever, because she is incredibly fond of him

2. Hugo, her magnificent red shiny espresso machine because she loves coffee

3. Hannah’s latest book for entertainment.

Hannah would want:

1. Her laptop, so she could write

2. Barb, her former nanny who she is still very close to

3. Her hearing aid, to help her hear.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.

Given George is an excellent barista who loves coffee, she would make a delicious espresso martini. It’s also a cocktail from the 1980s, so it would be a nod to George and Hannah’s first “not a date” 1980s-themed date night!
