Calling All Pet Peeps!

We need more pet photos.

Send us a photo of your fur baby and we will feature them in either the Pet of the Week or Caturday sections of an upcoming edition of Friday Feels or SapphFic Mischief.

Here’s the submission form.

Please don’t email TB or Miranda with a photo attached. We receive hundreds of emails every month, so keeping track of everything is quite challenging.

Now For Friday Fun!

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves a small town in Colorado.

Nestled in the heart of Colorado’s ski country, near Vail, Aspen, and Breckenridge, the small town of Avon (population 6,000) is making a big impact with a Pride festival that draws thousands of mountain neighbors.

The first Pride in the Park celebration, held on the shores of Benchmark Lake Reservoir in 2020, has since become a cornerstone of the Avon community. This event has evolved into a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of the area’s LGBTQ+ community throughout the year.

Embracing the laid-back, groovy vibe of Colorado culture, the day began with group yoga, followed by four distinct drag shows—including one for pets—and concluded with the vibrant Pride Parade around scenic Nottingham Park.

“I am really hopeful for the future,” said Madison Partridge, executive director of Mountain Pride. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in our society, in our world, and even in our community. But there is so much work that needs to be done.”
