5 Random Things Cheryl Rainfield

5 Random Things is our way of helping readers to get to know top sapphic book authors all the while having a bit of fun.

Here are five random facts about Cheryl Rainfield.

1. My book SCARS has repeatedly been banned by far-right extremists for being queer, dealing with mental health issues and self-harm, and having a strong survivor of child sexual abuse who works to heal herself.

2. I love listening to real psychics like Theresa Caputo (Long Island Medium), Jennie Marie (Mama Medium), and Tyler Henry (Hollywood Medium), and drew some inspiration from them to write VISIONS.

3. I had asthma for a number of years as an adult but it seems to be in remission, and it was never as bad as Kate’s in VISIONS.

4. I am never without a book–one I’m writing or one I’m reading. I usually have my Kindle with me, my cell phone with the Kindle app, and I often have my current manuscript with me, too. Books helped me survive my childhood and they help me cope now.

5. I love superheroes. As a child I imagined being Wonder Woman, Superman, and the Hulk to protect myself and others.

Before buying a “free” book, please ensure it’s free in your marketplace. Amazon has a habit of changing the price of permafree titles in stores outside of the US. Please know this it out of the author’s control and we are unable to check prices in all Amazon stores. Some of the books are only free today, August 30, 2024 so don’t miss out!

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves a Texas beer.

Following a bomb threat over hosting a drag brunch, an Austin, Texas brewery launched their “Big Gay Beer” last week, with all proceeds benefiting a veterans’ organization that supports LGBTQ+ equality.

The Brewtorium Brewery and Kitchen shared this with the public: In response to the bomb threat we received at June’s Legendary Drag Brunch with Las Ofrendas that forced us to have to cancel the event, our staff got together and decided to brew the Biggest Gayest beer we could possibly imagine to show our continued commitment to being a safe place for queer people and all good, kind and loving individuals in our city… And so was born Big Gay Beer: a super strong hazy Double IPA fruited to the max with Pink Guava, Orange and Mango. It’s a thick one with bright notes of Tropical Fruit, Candied Orange Peel & Ruby Red Grapefruit.🍍🥭🍊

Sounds delicious!

That’s all for today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
