It’s not too late to submit your own top reads and get in on the fun. Click here for the form. Our only rules are that authors may not submit their own books and your list needs to be new-to-you books that were read (not necessarily published) in 2024.

Here are Deb’s top sapphic reads of 2024:

1. Always a Love Song by Charley Clarke

I’m a sucker for a good second chancer. It’s hard to find those good ones where there is both a legitimate reason for the break up (not a silly misunderstanding) and a drawn out reconciliation. Drives me nuts when when someone is badly wronged and then rolls over. This is written so very well – very real, and it’s a great read.

2. A Story of Now by Emily O’Beirne

It took me back to my youth which isn’t always a great thing. I’m also a sucker for angsty uncertainty and this was right up there for that. Wonderful story line, combined with with such good writing.

3. The Tell Tale by Clare Ashton

It’s on my list cause it’s brilliant. Mystery, intrigue, bullies, romance, tragedy, grim, split timeline, unusual setting (cause Wales is unusual, but rural Wales?!) – and while a lot of that sounds depressing it’s brilliantly constructed and very uplifting.

4. Voyeur by Nicole Pyland

It’s so hot! I love the premise. How many of us are itching to do something similar but never get to meet the right people or get stuck in a life that won’t allow it? ie lack courage. This book is a great motivator to stop just reading and start doing.

5. Tryst Six Venom by Penelope Douglas

If you like POWERFUL YA novels that involve 2 strong rivals, sustained angst/tension, great atmosphere & character development and one writing profanities on the other in a locker room then this is your kind of book.
