Why this book and why now?

Every book I write has a little bit of me weaved in. I worked for years in the marketing world, and I understand the pressure and impossible timelines when pushing out a campaign. I thought showing behind-the-scenes action would be fun. But also, this book explores the struggles of imposter syndrome ( as so many of us do!) Coming from a working-class background and as a first-generation college grad, when I stepped into the career world, I felt like I had to be scrappy and prove myself to folks who were more educated and seasoned than me, especially when working with the children of executives. It took years into my career until I realized those who had “ties” with the executives were also struggling to prove themselves.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

Yes! I love anyone who is a little rough around the edges, with a heart of gold, who is fiercely loyal to those she loves.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

Wheel of Fortune, because she is an old soul at heart. Dexter because she’s also a badass.

One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.

Oh! She would start off with a long walk around the city while sipping mochas, stop to get a tarot card reading, and then do the Seattle Underground Tour.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett. The MC loves 80s and 90s rock and was definitely born in the wrong era!
