Here are Mickey’s top sapphic reads of 2024:
1. A Light on Altered Land by Becky Bohan
The characters were complex, interesting women, the story fun and intriguing. The love-making tender and the ending realistic – not cookie cutter happily ever after.
2. Inside These Halls by Adrian J. Smith
I liked this book so much, I wrote an Audible Review which I almost never do. The descriptions of the psychological abuse were gripping and I understood it in ways I never had before. I also found one character’s description of good parenting and good adult relationships to be exceptional while not being preachy. And love-making when they finally got to it fit the characters.
3. Love Among the Ruins by Catherine Maiorisi
Oh the romance. And the slow burn. And the descriptions of beautiful Italy. The charm of this story is the way the other group tour members were drawn into the developing romance and secretly cheering the women on. Rarely do lesbians get so much loving public support.
4. Letters Never Sent by Sandra Moran
Historical fiction – but not so long ago. Twisty mystery kept me engaged till the very end and I didn’t suspect the answer. Characters showed lots of humanity. No sizzle but great story.
5. The Apple Diary by Gerri Hill
I enjoyed the descriptions of life in the country in the early 20th century. The characters were engaging and the progress of their seduction titillating. Classic Gerri Hill.
