5 Random Things is our way of helping readers to get to know top sapphic book authors all the while having a bit of fun.
Here are five random facts about Eden Hopewell.
1. I know a suspicious number of people who breathe fire, juggle knives, or hang from silks for fun. If you need a fire performer for your pirate party, I probably know three.
2. I’ve met celebrities (and possibly villains), but due to lifelong memory issues and face blindness, I rarely recognize them. Except Corey Feldman. I definitely remember Corey Feldman.
3. I lost everything in a shipwreck in Mexico except the backpack I could carry. The boat was our home, and when it ran aground, we walked away soaked and barefoot — but alive.
4. My youngest daughter was born on a sailboat in Maine — during a blizzard. The midwife stepped aboard, pulled on her gloves, and caught a baby on the spot.
5. I was never built for convention — I’ve always lived on the fringe. I’m autistic, queer, polyamorous, and feral by choice.
Have you read Tides of Captivation yet?

Before buying a “free” book, please ensure it’s free in your marketplace. Amazon has a habit of changing the price of permafree titles in stores outside of the US. Please know this it out of the author’s control and we are unable to check prices in all Amazon stores.
Some of the books are only free today, May 2, 2025, so don’t miss out!

Meet Asten! Go away I’m hibernating! Submitted by Elle Armstrong, a sapphic author.
Today’s post is also sponsored by Sabrina Blaum. Please check out love is just camouflage.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves Angie Craig.
Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) has declared her candidacy for the U.S. Senate.
In a campaign launch video, she sharply criticized both the president and Elon Musk, accusing the president of “trampling our rights and freedoms for personal profit” and alleging that Musk is attempting to “take over our government and burn it to the ground.”
If Rep. Angie Craig secures both the Democratic nomination and a victory in the general election, she would become only the second openly LGBTQ+ person to serve in the U.S. Senate, joining Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), who made history in 2012 as the first openly queer senator.

That’s all for today.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
