Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s Friday Feels Fun post, it’s time for Guess the Author

Every week, we’ll provide five clues about a sapphic author. This game helps readers get to know their favorite authors while having fun.

Here is today’s clue:

Clue #5: I am conversationally fluent in Japanese. My other parlor trick is being able to read any weird business name or song title written in Katakana. Do NOT ask me to write in it, though.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves kazoos.

Around 200 LGBTQ+ supporters countered an anti-LGBTQ+ Christian nationalist rally in Seattle last weekend by blasting Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” on kazoos.

The group held their own “Kazoo Karaoke” gathering at Gas Works Park as a response to the “Revive in ’25” rally organized by Sean Feucht. Feucht, a MAGA-aligned activist who frequently stages events in liberal cities, has described the LGBTQ+ rights movement as an attempt to “destroy our culture and pervert our children.”

Counter protester James Watkins described the “Kazoo Karaoke” gathering as “centered on joy.” He explained, “It’s something that’s built to express the reality that we’re trying to protect, which is the ability to form community and connect with people that are whatever kind of people they want to be.”

That’s all for today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
