Why this book and why now?

Ella and Morgan live rent free in my head and when I finished writing Conned I knew I would continue their story. I also wanted to have some fun playing with tropes.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

I think I’d get along with many of the characters in Deconstructed. Ella and Lil are ‘Lego’ fans and so am I. Morgan is the creative and although I can’t draw the way she does, I create as a blacksmith. (I’ve replaced the brand name with the word Briicks in the story)

Did any real-life events or personal experiences influence the story?

Absolutely! I love attending fan conventions and admire cosplayers and their talents. I wanted to represent that world and the nerdy crowd I’m a part of. From the very beginning I knew book 2 was going to have a Briick convention. I’ve attended a few and the creativity blows my mind.

How does it feel to finally share this book with readers?

I’m excited for readers to revisit Morgan and Ella and meet the rest of their chosen family. Both characters have grown in the eight year gap between the first and second books and I hope Ella’s quest for a perfect proposal event reads well for everyone showing up for Rage Room Romance #2.

What’s one fun fact about your book that most people wouldn’t know?

A few scenes in this book are taken from real experiences. I’ll let the readers guess which ones.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

In their imaginary world Ella and Morgan are Blasphemer fanatics so they would definitely be into sci-fi/fantasy. I could see them enjoying Wynona Earp or Lost Girl. Toni would binge true crime and Lil would definitely avoid that by binging The Curse of Oak Island or Gold Rush.

What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?

Since sapphic fiction plays a huge role in Deconstructed a favorite book would have to be in the romance genre. Ella would definitely go for The Lily and the Crown. Morgan would grab onto a love story like The Unfinished Line.

Which character do you relate to the most, and why?

I relate to Lil the most. She’s a new character in Deconstructed. She’s a contractor with a bit of a past. Not an ice queen, but reserved and sarcastic for reasons. We share some of the same scars and I wanted to dive into that. You can expect more from her in book 3.

Which character was the most fun to write, and which was the hardest?

I loved exploring Beatrice a bit more. She’s Morgan’s best friend, sort-of business partner, and an accountant. She’s snarky and edgy and I’ll give readers more from her past in a future book. She and Ella have this love-hate relationship that Morgan works hard to understand.

I think Lil is and will be the most difficult because she’s a survivor and her past isn’t romantic. She’s also healing through therapy and still very private.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.

Since sobriety plays a role in this book I’ll say they all celebrate with my favorite N/A malt beverage Ostrichized. This is a local beer available in the Twin Cities and every time I visit I have to bring a case home. Whitney, the brewer, inspired the sobriety element of Deconstructed. You should check out her mission to address the crisis of belonging.

If your book had a scent, what would it smell like?

Toasted Marshmallow

If your book had an official mascot, what (or who) would it be?

It would be a Lego minifig maybe wearing a construction vest and a hardhat or a firefighter uniform.

Do you outline your books in detail, or do you prefer to discover the story as you write?

Deconstructed had a loose outline since this is book two in the rage Room Romance series. I rarely write a book in order, and I knew how I wanted this one to progress so I could bounce around from character to character. Cove was a bit of a surprise and I look forward to exploring their world.

Were there any books, movies, or personal experiences that influenced this story?

My 45 years of building Lego had a huge influence as well as my convention experiences. I think moving from fan to fandom is fun to explore and sometimes requires stepping outside our comfort zones.

Meet Sharon K Angelici

Sharon K. Angelici was born in the American Midwest, but her heart belongs to the Colorado mountains. A small business owner, sapphic romance author, partner, parent, and artist, she has been crafting stories, poems, and characters since childhood—each work inspired by the belief that love, in all its forms, has the power to heal.

Her debut novel, Dear Kane; What I Wish We Would Have Said, was published in 2016 by Write With Light Publications. Since then, Sharon has released eleven additional titles spanning sapphic romance, fantasy, and poetry, with her thirteenth book, Deconstructed—the anticipated sequel to Conned—coming soon. Her works are available at Studio Moonfall, Barnes & Noble, Audible, iTunes, Amazon, and directly through her.

Outside of writing, Sharon and her son are working blacksmiths who have been creating metal art, jewelry, and sculptures together for more than fourteen years. In April 2024, they debuted their first show at the Florida Renaissance Faire.

Sharon doesn’t believe in writer’s block—only moments of redirection. When inspiration slows, she shifts focus to her characters or research, allowing her stories to evolve naturally.
